Fastbraces® are a type of orthodontic treatment designed to shift teeth into proper alignment much more rapidly than traditional braces. That’s because unlike traditional braces that shift the crown of the tooth first and then shift the root, Fastbraces® focus first on moving the root right from the beginning of treatment. When roots are shifted first, treatment can be completed much more quickly – typically in a fraction of the time of traditional braces.

Most treatments take from a few months to about a year. Dr. Peng will be able to give you more information about the duration of your treatment after he evaluates your teeth and jaw.

Yes, once the braces are removed, you’ll need to wear a retainer either while you sleep or for a more limited period of time during the day to help teeth remain in alignment. Dr. Peng will discuss your options during your treatment.

Fastbraces® are used to treat many types of bite and alignment issues, including:

  • crossbites
  • overbites
  • crowding
  • high canines
  • spacing or gaps
  • open bites

While some types of Fastbraces® rely on metal components like traditional braces, other types use clear components so they are much less noticeable. If you’re interested in the clear version, Dr. Peng will be able to determine if you’re a candidate for them during your initial consultation.

In most cases, no extractions are necessary in order for Fastbraces® to shift teeth into their proper alignment.

No, Fastbraces® can be used for children, teens and adults. The best way to learn if they’re good options for your needs is to schedule a consultation so Dr. Peng can evaluate your teeth and your bite.

Traditional braces move teeth into position in two stages, usually over a period of about two years. In the first year, the crown of the tooth is moved into alignment. In the second year, treatment addresses the position of the root of the tooth. However, the brackets used with Fastbraces® work on a different mechanical principle altogether. The patented system uses an innovative triangular bracket and a specially- shaped square wire to correct the position of the root of the tooth, from the beginning of treatment. This combination is key in realigning the root and crown simultaneously.

University research has shown that Fastbraces® Technology has low mean frictional forces, a clear-cut reduction in sliding friction and pain reduction with fitting front and back teeth together.

With the complete alignment of the roots of the teeth, retention is needed every day for only 15-20 minutes (“Tooth Shampoo”.) Some people like wearing the retainers at night (“Teeth pajamas”). No more retainers for hours during the day for months after treatment. This is yet another reason why Fastbraces® Technology is changing the way orthodontics is done altogether.
